Summary

Phil's daughter Phyllis opens up about the story behind her book, I Never Knew, and the hardships she faced during the 44 years before her reunion with the Robertson family. Phyllis reflects on the difficult and sometimes dark road that shaped her, the calling that led her into counseling children and families, and the surprising tenderness Phil showed her during the six years they spent together before his passing. Jase and Al connect her story to their own family wounds, the way counseling helped their marriages and children, and the biblical picture of moving from fear into sonship through Christ.  In this episode: Romans 8:13-17; Acts 17; Philippians 3; James 1; 1 Corinthians 13; Psalm 139; John 14-17; Genesis 3 “Unashamed” Episode 1373 is sponsored by: https://myphdweightloss.com — Find out how Al lost 80+ pounds. My son stumbled upon the greatest dessert that I have ever partaken in.

Really?

0:14.0

Yes.

0:15.0

Better than else pie?

0:16.0

Oh yeah, I got this at the top.

0:18.0

This immediately went to the top.

It's impressive.

He took some bluebell ice cream and put it in a cup,

and he poured two espressoes over the ice cream and put some nuts on top of it.

0:33.3

And I bit into that.

0:35.0

It's not what you think.

0:37.2

I thought, he said, what do you think that is? I didn't know what it was. I said, a bunch of melted caramel. And it was espresso. I was like over bluebell. Over ice cream. But it's somewhere in the combination, it has a little bite. It's like, it tastes like calming me with a little bite to it, which I like that bite. Because I like espresso.

0:54.6

I like strong coffee.

0:55.6

I do too.

0:56.4

But I wouldn't recommend having one at 8 o'clock at night.

1:02.7

That makes sense.

1:03.6

He called it something.

1:04.3

Double espresso.

1:05.2

I thought he called it avocado, but it was something like that.

1:10.0

Does not sound like avocado. The bluebell would be the only not PhD-friendly part for me, but I, but the coffee and the nuts, I could handle it. They make a no-sugar added vanilla ice cream. And theirs is excellent. I had it at the Bluebell place. And it was actually better than most people's regular ice cream. Welcome done of shame, by the way. We've logged right into Jay. When Jay says it's the number one dessert ever, because you're a bit of a dessert. I'm looking up, what the name of this is, that my son, he said, Dad, I found the greatest dessert for you. And I was like, well, let's break it.

1:45.3

But I will say this about your son.
