Welcome to Big Fat Positive with Shauna and Laura. This week we have our weekly check-ins. We have our special segment, Mom wins, where we talk about heavy lifting and terrifying trucks. And we close with our BFPs and BFNs for the week. Let's get started. Hi, everyone. Welcome to episode 135. Hello, Shana. Hello. Hello. So I want to hear about your week. What's going on with you and your kiddos? Well, this week, as you can probably tell from my more chipper attitude, is so much better than the last couple of weeks and I am just elated. That sounds awesome. Tell me more. Well, I think that

0:41.0

Cece has come out of a developmental leap or it has to be something like that, right? Because,

0:46.7

you know, over the last couple weeks, I've struggled with her sleep, right? She was fighting,

0:51.6

going down for bedtime, for naps. She was having what I thought was a potty

0:57.1

training regression. She was very clingy during the day, lots of crying and whining. And oh my God,

1:03.4

it's so draining when they're like that, especially when it goes on and on for like more than two

1:08.8

weeks. Yeah. You're worried this is going to be your new normal, right?

1:12.9

Yes, I was so worried it was going to be the new normal, just like I do every single

1:17.0

time something like this happens.

1:19.3

And then she woke up one day.

1:21.3

She got a really good night's sleep and a good nap.

1:24.1

And it's almost like a switch was flipped and she came out of this dark cloud

1:30.2

and into the sunshine again and she's been happy, very loving hug, hug, kiss, kiss, I love you

1:38.9

mama, you know, all of that sweet stuff is back and oh my God. she's been going down to sleep better i will say

1:46.6

even during the rough patch we had to reinstill some of the sleep training stuff that we had done

1:52.7

a while back like how so do you check-ins and stuff or yep uh when i talked about sleep regression

in a previous episode i mentioned how having her door open and available to the world was kind of too much for a toddler. I got that info from Janet Lansbury and Lisa Sunbury. And so I was like, well, we're just going to close her door. She doesn't know how to open doors yet. I took that little muffler thing off. And so she can't get out of her room. So that was the first step. And second was laying her down in bed, even if she was rejecting it, you know, and doing the ride, talking to her, and leaving, like, trying to give her confidence. You're fine, you're safe. We're going to go through with this. Mommy, Daddy's going to leave. And so we'd leave and she would come running to the door pounding, Mommy, where are you? Daddy, where are you? Crying, crying. And I was like, check on you in five minutes, right? So we just let her do it for five minutes. And then we'd come in and see how she's doing and do the whole thing over and over until she finally relaxed. And the first few times she just straight up fell asleep on the floor on her rug. Oh. Which sounds so terrible. But, you know, it's like it was a huge relief. It was like, oh, my God, she does know how to put herself to sleep, right? Like she would cry, but then she would go get comfortable in a position somewhere and go to

3:09.3

sleep. And then we would go in a few minutes later and pick her up and put her in bed. And after doing that

3:14.0

a few times, it was like it clicked and it's been a lot better. Were you terrified to pick her up

3:20.3

and put her back into bed? Because I would be like, maybe we should just let her sleep there.

3:25.4

Yes, I was terrified, except that I knew we'd tried once leaving her there and that's even

3:31.3

worse, right? Because then she makes up at midnight and blah, blah, blah. So why the hell am I on the
