Summary
On Sunday before the group start of the Arizona Trail Race Katie Scott was texting her friend who was doing the race with the typical well wishes. That short interaction sparked something in Katie that had been brewing for years. After thinking about doing the AZT for years she decided in that moment that this would be her year. So she threw fears and doubts to the wind and moved forward with her last minute decision and started to gather everything she need. A process that would continue up till the morning of the race.

| 0:11.8 | who just placed second in the Arizona Trail 300. |
| 0:17.4 | And she did so after deciding to do the AZT only four days before the group start, |
| 0:25.6 | and this was her first ever bikepacking race. |
| 0:29.3 | I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation, and I hope that you do too, |
| 0:34.6 | and I appreciate Katie coming on the podcast and sharing with us. |

| 0:52.1 | for the Mulberry Gap takeover that's happening this weekend, |
| 0:56.6 | which means that I have to unpack from the previous bikepacking trip. |
| 1:00.5 | I have to unpack from Oklahoma and get packed for this one. |
| 1:04.9 | So it's always the packing shuffle. |
| 1:07.7 | I was unloading my frame bag from the last bike packing trip and forgot that I had left |
| 1:13.5 | in there some cheese and crackers and like a little meat thing. It was like a meat tray that I threw |
| 1:19.3 | into a bag and it turned into a science project in my frame bag. And if you don't know what I'm |
| 1:24.6 | talking about, then you're not a real bike packer because every |
| 1:28.2 | real bike packer knows you got to have moldy food in your frame bag or your feed bag or top |
| 1:33.4 | two bag. It's just part of the deal. And so if you haven't done that yet, make sure to leave your |
| 1:38.4 | food in your bags after you get back from your trip, leave it in there for a good month or so, |
| 1:43.7 | and then open it up and see what you got cooking. your trip, leave it in there for a good month or so, and then open it up |
