Summary

Highlights:

  • “In light of the last couple of elections, support, particularly for internal or soft secession, appears to be utterly exploding. Perhaps the single most popular secessionist initiative in the nation right now is what’s known as the Greater Idaho movement.”
  • “Support for the growing movement known as Texit, the call for Texas to secede from the US as its own sovereign nation, has reached new heights. A brand-new poll shows that 66% of likely voters, nearly 70%, supported the idea of holding a referendum to secede from the US.”
  • “Our politics are no longer defined by ideologies and by urban centers. They’re increasingly being defined by identity, and those most especially involve the identity of the rural and of the ex-urban or, in the hard secessionist case, the Texan. These dynamics aren’t going away, our politics will at some point have to bend towards them determining at some point, which secessionist sentiment – internal or external -- will win out in the end.”
