As always, my name is Patrick and I'm your host.

And I'm excited to have RJ Sawyer on the podcast today.

You may be familiar with him through a lot of his writing, his photography, and videography. He's been featured in

bikepacking.com, the bikepacking journal, and many other places. And I have personally been a

really big fan of his work for a while. I really appreciate his storytelling through all of those mediums. And just a few weeks ago,

he released his most recent film. It's called Along for the Ride. And it features him and his

three-year-old son, Ollie, as they tackle the Rexy Gravel Race,

which is a 200-mile mixed terrain race that starts in Fruta, Colorado, and ends in Moab, Utah,

and there is a time limit of 24 hours to complete it.

And so RJ and Ollie actually did the Rexy Gravel race last year, but the film was just released a few weeks ago.

Now, what's kind of cool about this is that the 2022 version of Rexy Gravel is going down

tomorrow, October 8th.

And so there's a chance that there's going to be some people out there riding the Rexy

tomorrow and might be listening to this episode.

So I hope that timing, which was completely by accident, goes on to benefit some of the

writers out there. And just remember while you're out there challenging yourself and pushing your

pace and maybe questioning your life decisions, just remember that RJ and his son, Ollie, did this just last year. And that's what today's

episode is about. And I thoroughly enjoyed this one as a father, as a parent. I think that these

stories and these examples are extremely valuable. And I think RJ's example is a wonderful example. And also

this film does a great job of encapsulating that experience and goes on to really inspire me
