deep dive into the writing, recording, and inspiration behind the fan-favoured song,

Fuck Authority, taken from their 2001 album,

Land of the Free.

This song, to me, is the embodiment

of what Pennywise is all about. A fast punk rock sing-along with socially conscious lyrics.

Fletcher mentioned that the band doesn't demo in the traditional sense,

that they prefer to get into their sweaty storage space and hammer things out together,

old school style. And talk about two worlds colliding,

Fletcher mentioned that the warehouse they practice in is right next door to a space used by the 80s

metal band, Dachin. I mentioned to Fletcher that I think

Land of the Free is one of the best sounding Pennywise records and he was quite complimentary

to producer Joe Barreese for the Sonics he made come to life.

Even though at times him and Fletcher butted heads,

a story you'll have to hear him tell to believe.
