Well, happy October. It might be my favorite month. So welcome to the messy table, an ordinary

space where we can show up and remember that God is at work in our mess. And if we haven't yet

had the chance to meet, I'm Jen, and it's an honor to host this faith-fueled conversation-style

podcast, which happens to release a fresh perspective into your world and your speakers every other

Tuesday, which happens to be partnered with the women of my church, Life Church, which happens to be a

And beyond that, we are just grateful to lock arms with some incredible

women like you in your sometimes magical and sometimes ordinary life. So whether you're driving

to work or out for a run or joining us on your lunch break or spicing up those everyday tasks

like scrubbing dishes or folding laundry, I am genuinely glad you're here. And so, spoiler, my guest today is

going to challenge us to resist the rush and remember to rest, which, to be honest, I constantly

need to be reminded of. And with that in mind, I want to point us to Hebrews 11, 4, which tells us to

strive to enter God's rest, which sounds like an oxymoron.

And maybe it is.

But that's the pattern and that's the tension of this upside down kingdom.

The last will be first.

The poor can be rich, their strength and weakness.

And we die to ourselves to truly live. The author of the book of Hebrews is

saying we should strive to enter God's rest. Other translations say let's make every effort

to enter God's rest, or let's do our best to enter God's rest. So what exactly does this mean?

The theme of rest is woven throughout the Bible. God rested on the seventh day of

creation, which was actually the first full day for humans, but he modeled our work week and our Sabbath
