I'm sure that some of you have trains to catch back to London and will in any case not wish to remain here for long. Now that Richard Abernethy has gone to his last resting place,

it only remains for me as his executor. I didn't know that. Did he leave me anything? Oh, do be quiet, Cora. Up to a year ago, Richard Abernethy's will was very simple. Subject to certain legacies, he left everything to his son Mortimer. But after Mortimer's tragic death, I pointed out to him that it would be advisable for him to make new testamentary disposition.

What would have happened if he hadn't made a new will?

Would it all have gone to Timothy as next of kin?

It is possible that your husband may have been the sole beneficiary, but since Mr. Abernethy decided to make a new will, that is not really pertinent.

First of all, as I am sure,

you all know, he decided to get acquainted with the younger generation. He tried us all, Greg and me,

then Rosamond and Michael, and then Cousin' George. And we were all weighed in the balance and found

wanting. Oh, I don't intend to burden you with the niceties of legal phraseology. Basically, it amounts to this.

The bulk of the estate is to be divided into six equal portions.

Four of these are to go to Richard's brother Timothy,
