CW: This episode deals with death, depression and grief.
If you'd like to send Adriana a birthday card for her April 16th birthday, please email [email protected] with the subject line ADRIANA and you will be sent her mailing address. Thank you to all of those who have reached out so far.
Two weeks ago, Adriana Rojas asked the Gee Thanks! Facebook group a question: My husband had the audacity to die on my birthday in 2020 (dark humor is now kind of my thing). I’ll be turning 37 this year, which is the age he was when he died. It’s def f*cking with me a bit that I’ll now be the age was when he died. I need to indulge in some retail therapy (don’t worry, I participate in real therapy, too). What should I buy?
What came next was a real outpouring of support, community, love, and thoughtfulness. In the midst of that, a few people asked Adriana if they could send her a birthday card. We're opening that opportunity up to everyone, in hopes of bringing a little joy to an otherwise heavy day.
Adriana joins me to talk about her husband Andrew, the last two years of living without him, and the retail therapy she clung to the most. There's both tears and laughter, and I left our conversation feeling so inspired by her strength.
Gee Thanks! appreciates its supporters, especially today’s guest Alley Peplinski, Becca Sheaffer, Allie Nagy, Angi James and Erin Gibson!
