Hello and welcome to the Antipada where unrest is best and our new motto is to be determined.

Yeah, we're going to leave unrest as best behind in 2020.

We're going to keep it in the quarantine.

And next year will be something about techno raves and orgies and we can get back to that life again that we all enjoyed before the pandemic before we were stuck inside talking on our laptops.

Oh my God.

And so that'll probably be the end of podcasting,

so we probably won't need a new motto.

Because we'll all be living our lives to the fullest.

I guess we'll see.

Or, you know, conversely,versely we're all gonna just turn into

grown-ups and then getting enough rest will be the thing that it's best.

You know nothing like a good night's sleep.

Yeah I like that people are predicting that once everyone's

vaccinated it'll just we'll just go back to like conspicuous consumption raves

aside and you know we might that might come back for a couple of months before the next

catastrophe and I think we have the perfect guest to tell us what that will be.

That's right so we're very excited today to be speaking with Mike Davis. He's a writer, activist, urban theorist, and Marxist historian.

He's the author of many books including a city of courts, prisoners of the

American Dream and Planet of Slums and his investigations of political economy from

his native state of California to the global capitalist system as a whole have

been a major, major contribution to the field.

And this is someone who is incredibly knowledgeable about many of the major things to review this year.
