About Susie Boutry

BlogInstagram

Susie has loved reading for as long as she can remember. Some of her fondest childhood memories involve long afternoons at the library and then reading late into the night. More than ten years ago, she began journaling about the books she read and turned that passion into writing about books. Her first forays were as a guest reviewer on a friend’s blog, but she soon realized she wanted to be reviewing and talking about books on a blog of her own. From there, Novel Visits was born. That was in 2016 and, though the learning curve was steep, she loves being a part of the book community. Novel Visits focuses on new novel reviews (print and audio), previews of upcoming releases, and musings on all things bookish.

Welcome to the 2022 debuts special episode.

What we mean by debuts is an author's first book or novel.

Susie from Novel Visits is here with me, and she can be found on Instagram at Novel Visits if you don't follow her yet.

Welcome back, Susie. Hi, Sarah. It's nice to be back. This is one of my favorite episodes of the year. Well, it was your idea, too.

1:17.1

That's right. It was. Yes. We first did this show last year, and we got such great feedback from it

1:24.2

and had such a good time doing it that we decided to make it an annual thing. So this is our second annual debut special.

1:30.1

Yeah, and I'm super happy that we're doing it because there were a lot of great debuts this year.

1:36.0

And still to come.

1:37.3

I mean, it's only mid-October, but this is when it worked in the episode schedule.

1:41.7

I will say, if you are a new listener and did not hear last year's debut

special, it might be worth going back and listening to because Susie and I shared our all-time

1:51.2

favorite debuts in that episode. Yeah. So that was a little bit different because we could really

1:56.4

dive back into it, though we are doing a couple backlist this year too. All right. So here's how today's going to work. We're going to share some of our debut stats

2:04.0

for 2022 so far. Then we're going to get into debut books in three categories. Our favorite

2022 debuts, our favorite backlist debuts, and our most anticipated upcoming sophomore novels.
