variety of tax increases. See, there's this weird idea out there that Democrats raise spending

and then they have to raise taxes. That is incorrect.

Democrats want to raise taxes. They like raising taxes. Higher taxes are part of the goal.

They think that higher taxes lead to redistributive equality. Equity can only be achieved through redistribution of income, even if it means that overall people make less money.
