The college football playoffs board of managers had a Zoom call on Monday and held a brief

discussion on the governorship of college football going forward.

Now the board is made up of 11 college presidents and chancellors, and while the talk may have

been short in time, it has huge implications for the sport going forward.

It almost seems inevitable that high level college football and the NCAA are nearing

an amicable divorce, and since the NCAA doesn't have any sway in college football's

season like it does in other sports, the split should be made easier.

Now by seceding from the NCAA, the teams with the loudest voices in the biggest wallets

will be calling the shots, and you not only eliminate the middleman in the NCAA, you're

going to generate even more money to be spread around now that they're out of the picture.

Now there's also talk about having playoff expansion agreed upon even before this 14

playoff situation runs out.

Now in my eyes, the best way to do it going forward goes as follows.

The playoff should be expanded to eight teams with five automatic bids given to the winner

of each power five conference championship game, not regular season, but championship game.

That leaves you with three at large bids.

Most likely they're going to go to 12, but we all know that maybe four teams have the

true capability to actually win the national championship in FBS.
