We're all a busy people, so I'm five minutes or less to get my point across.

I'm back with another five. Most business owners want their businesses to grow.

They want to serve more customers, produce more products, make more money.

Ambitions to grow your business are worthwhile pursuits.

However, much of the time those who pursue getting bigger do it at the expense of getting better.

Their growth outpaces their strength and in turn they're unable to carry the size of their company for very long.

Their product works so they get customers.

They hustle and work to sell and produce more, bringing in more business.

They hire more people to keep up with more demand, but all with minimal systems and oversight.

Soon, quality slips. Mistakes are made again and again.

Customers are frustrated with defects, laid orders, and a lack of responsiveness.

Employees are irritated and discouraged because of the vision they were promised is not realized.

There's a breakdown in communication and information flow in between operational steps.

Billing is late, payments are not collected, vendors are left unpaid.

Everything starts to unravel.

It's like trying to go 60 miles an hour stuck in second gear. You're revving your engine,

everything is loud and busy, but your vehicle is exhausted, struggling to keep up and about to die.

I've been there. I know what it's like to get bigger but not better and it only lasts so long.

Sure it's possible to be scared of growth because you forever feel like you're not ready

...
