Hey everyone, me again, Lhasa Montgomery, part four in our little overview series covering the Life of John S service. Through the Life of John's Service, we're also looking at some of the history of U.S. China relations

during the time after the capital of Nationalist China, the Republic of China, had been moved

from Nanjing to Chong-Ching.

As I've mentioned before, I'm using Lynn Joyner's Honorable Survivor, Mao's China, McCarthy's America, and the persecution of

John S. Service.

We have traced his life up to this point from his beginnings growing up in Sichuan province attending school in Shanghai in the 1920s and then moving back to the US.

Then through his lifelong friend John Patton Davies, he joins the Foreign Service and he arrives in

China pretty much just in time for World War II and it's here where we have been lingering

of recent. We are focusing of course here at the Royal China History
