So the big stupid controversy of the weekend is there is an article that I found highly amusing. I'll just say it right now. It's a funny article by Joseph Epstein, who used to write for commentary magazine, among other things. He wrote a piece in the Wall Street Journal titled, Is There a Doctor in the White House? Not if you need an MD. Joe Biden should think about dropping the honorific, which feels fraudulent, even comic.

It has nothing to do with actually Jill Biden as a human being.

Here is my view when it comes to doctorate degrees. I am a lawyer, which means I am a jurist doctor. If I were to suggest that anyone call me doctor like Dr. Shapiro because I am a JD,

you would think that I was an ass. And you'd be right because that's an ass thing to do.

There was a guy who lived around the corner from us many, many years ago. He got his PhD in musicology. And I'm sure he worked very hard on that dissertation in musicology. But let me just tell you, if you were at a dinner party and somebody had said, you know, what's your name? And he said, Dr. Smith. And then later in dinner, he had some sort of anaphylactic reaction to the food. And Dr. Smith had been called to the table because he had to do something. And they said, oh yeah, and what's your doctorate? And he said, musicology. I guarantee you, the person dying would have been very, very disappointed to learn that it was a doctorate in musicology. If you're ever on a plane, this happened before, because as everyone knows, my wife is an actual doctor, meaning a medical doctor, meaning somebody who can take care of you. but the suggestion that somebody is dr jill Jill Biden and that she has no capacity.

By the way, her doctorate is in education, which not to crap on the field of education,

but to crap a little bit on the field of education.
