Hey friends, E&O in all my 14 are climbing.

I've been so impressed when I see someone go running past me.

You know, you're up above tree line, the air is thin,

you're gasping to take 10 steps in a row without a break,

and here goes a runner, straight up the mountain.

I think it's amazing. Today's guest is Sidney Peterson, and she is on the U.S. team for

mountain running. But before we dive into the interview, I want to share something with you,

and, you know, Sydney grew up in this valley,

so I think she'll understand. But anyway, here's something different to start off today's episode.

I woke in the deep darkness, as I do always, except for during the months hugging the warm solstice.

I dress quietly in the blackness, marveling at the skills of those without sight.

I don't want to wake in.

The doorknob rattles just a little as I hold my breath, slowly, slowly, or perhaps I should say polle, pole, pole.

I pull the door tightly against the jam, then I exhale.

Off to the east through the large windows, I see a splash of gray on the charcoal canvas, with a pinhole worshipping the dawn.

That pinhole is probably Venus, though I've not tracked the Wanderers for a few weeks.

It could be serious for all I know.

Funny how when Jupiter is full in Venus's crescent, the king claims the lady's glory.

It could be Jupiter.
