He had never met Sylvie, only chatted with her online and sent her money. Lots of money that wasn't always his, but his parents and brothers.

The defendant, Arnt Amato, became addicted to her, consumed with her, possessed by her to the point that he was spending hundreds of thousands of dollars of the family's money on her.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars to quote, be with her on our internet website.

In fact, Grant's obsession with Sylvie was a point of contention within his family.

Any presented to her, a persona that was not who he really was, a professional gamer owned his own home, drove a BMW.

On December 28, 2018, Grant was checked into a rehabilitation facility for treatment for sex addiction and depression.

After his parents and two older brothers had staged an intervention with him less than a month earlier.

Grant didn't stay at the facility for the full 60 day treatment. He checked himself out more than a month early on January 9, 2019.

Before long, he was talking to Sylvie again. According to Grant, there was again friction in the family when his father found out.

Grant woke up around 7.30 or 8 o'clock in the morning. Throughout the day, he was at home with his mom Margaret.

She was working from home while he prepped for a job interview he had the next day.

At 29, Grant still lived at home with his parents, as well as his older brother Cody, who was 31.

Both his dad, Chad, and Cody left to go to their respective jobs that day. Chad was a retail pharmacist at CVS, and Cody a registered nurse anesthetist.
