Since being called up to the major leagues, Joan Moncada has been compared to Robinson

Canoe. They played the same position. They have the same swing. In fact,

Mankata's all-time favorite player is Kano. He even named his son after him, Robinson Mankata.

And with the Mariners in town, I had a conversation with Robinson, Kano, about Yohan Mankata and Robinson says

among other things that he believes that Mankata is going to be a superstar in

this game they did not meet by the way until the first game of this series on

Monday had never met and never been on the same field with each other not even

in spring training so we talked about a lot of things.

Robinson was named after Jackie Robinson, so having someone like Yoan look up to him like that.

It was very humbling to say the least for Robinson, so he spoke about that as well as

Yoan's potential acclimating to the

United States, the importance of having a mentor, a baseball mentor. Robinson had some big ones in

New York. We talked about Yohan's strikeouts. Who hits the ball harder? Robinson or Yohan and a whole lot more.
