This person is one of the first ever listeners of the Stacks.

She is someone I have relied on for book recommendations for years and years.

She is known to most people as Sue Thomas, but to me she's mom.

That's right in honor of Mother's Day.

Our guest this week is my mom.

We are going to be talking about getting your kids to read, our shared love of books, as well as one

book that we both adore, even though we know it's super problematic.

My mom will also be our guest on May 27th when we discuss our May pick for the Stax Book Club,

The Giver by Lois Lowry.

I'm ready. Okay. So, are you nervous?

I'm a little nervous.

Don't be nervous. It's going to be fine.

You don't have to talk about a book you wrote because you didn't write a book. So you have to do is talk about the books you like. That's easy.

Okay, so we're going to start where we always start with everybody. I, you know, spoiler alert. I know a lot of these these answers but I'm going to try to pretend like some of the stuff is new to me so we'll start why do you tell us a little bit about yourself where you're from kind of where you are now, just a little background.

Okay, so I was born and raised in Southern California.

I grew up in a little suburb of Los Angeles called Inglewood which is right where the forum is and the airport.

I went all through school through high school in Inglewood and then came up to Northern California to attend Cal.
