Hey folks, Mark Levin here. You know, I've written a brand new book called On Power. Not on Liberty,

0:05.2

not on Rights, but On Power. Now, why have I done that? Because there's a lot of focus on liberty and

0:10.1

rights, but the core to understanding human nature is power. It determines the extent to which we

enjoy either or lose both. The character of the law and the character of our government,

which people either flourish or suffer.

I've got a great show for you coming up. Dave Landau, we're going to be here to talk about everything from Hunter Biden to Ozzy Osbourne, but we're going to start by doing socialism in the grocery aisle. You know, if you're like me, you probably think to yourself, wow, communists do a great job providing food to people, don't they? I mean, you think about the Ukrainian Hologimor, you think about Mao's great leap forward. How about just off our shores in Cuba? Seems like there's just a bounty everywhere communists go. Let's try it here in America, shall we? At least let's try it right in New York City. We showed you this video, I think maybe last week or the week before. I want to set the table with this. There's a bunch of new stuff on it. But here's the mom, Donnie, grocery stores owned by the city proposal. Grocery prices are out of control. The cost of eggs and milk has skyrocketed. Some stores are even using dynamic pricing, jacking

1:28.6

up the cost over the course of a day depending on what they can get away with. It doesn't need to be

1:32.4

this way. I'm Zahran Mandani, and as mayor, I will create a network of city-owned grocery

1:37.0

stores. It's like a public option for produce. We will redirect city funds from corporate supermarkets

1:43.0

to city-owned grocery stores, whose mission

1:45.7

is lower prices, not price gouge.

1:48.4

These stores will operate without a profit motive, or having to pay property taxes or rent,

1:53.1

and we'll pass on those savings to you.

1:55.3

Now, I've already told you that the money that he thought was going to pay for this program,

1:58.9

he actually just misread a website.

2:52.6

That's the basis of this program. So it hasn't been thought at all that well. But, shockingly enough, they're now trying to justify it and they need to come up with some person to step forward and say, hey, no, we swear this is going to work. Now, of course, the source for this is the New York Times. New York City has the power to bring down grocery prices. All cities do. So they had to go find some communists to justify this communist policy. They got this woman, Zephyr Teachout, who there she pictured with Cynthia Nixon in her failed run for, was it governor or mayor. I don't know. She was running for Teachout was running for attorney general at the time. And she has an op-ed, which is just, I mean, it's embarrassing, frankly. It's just absolutely terrible. The food system in the United States is rigged in the favor of big retailers and suppliers in several ways. Big retailers often flex their muscles to demand special deals. To make up the difference, suppliers then charge the smaller stores more. I want you to remember this, what they're doing here.
