This idea that patriotism is now evil. It's now a you know you can't defend your nation. You can't say I you know what I really like you know the way that my pub is I like going in there and I see you know whatever say shamrocks on the wall I like going in and watching you know a rugby match or whatever. I don't want to walk in you know and smell food that isn't Irish you know strong spices from India and

and watch you know TV in another language that's not what my nation is.

trying to understand what it means to take every thought captive to the

obedience of Christ.

Now, one of the challenges in this effort is the tendency to believe that the way I and my tribe have done it is the way it should be done.

This problem becomes even more acute. is the way it should be done.

This problem becomes even more acute

if you don't have awareness of the fact

that there are other people doing things

in different ways and what those different ways are. So whether you're a church, a family, a business, or even a nation,

awareness of what's going on in other places is necessary to avoid falling into the trap of believing that the way I have done it is the only way it can or should be done.

So when it comes to politics, Americans are obviously not the only ones trying to figure out how to achieve peace, safety, and prosperity for their people.

And anecdotally, my experience is traveling around the world.

The rest of the world knows a lot more about what's going on in America

than Americans tend to know about what's going on in the rest of the world and that

can make our thinking somewhat insular because there's lots of things we know

nothing about that frankly we probably should know something about.
