Summary

Abi Daré is the debut novelist of The Girl with the Louding Voice. Her book is a coming of age story about a Nigerian girl, Adunni, who is sold into marriage by her father, and the the journey she goes on to find her voice. Today we talk with Daré about how her characters haunt her thoughts, her unique writing process, and her unexpected day job.

0:52.0	The book has kind of taken the world by storm so Avi welcome to the show.

1:03.2	30 seconds or so can you give us kind of a little rundown of your book? Sure it's a story of a
1:09.3	14 year old girl called Adunie who wants nothing more than to be educated. Now when her mother, who has
1:15.2	always fought for education, dies, Adunie is sold to be the third wife of a much older man.
1:20.1	She escapes that and moves to the city of Lagos where she comes a house made for a wealthy
1:25.6	family. The story is her journey as she tries to fight for education as she tries to fulfill
