And Illinois bounces back, ends a two-game skid with a dominant 35-13 win over Rutgers today at Memorial Stadium.

We're live at Memorial Stadium after the most complete performance of the season for Illinois football, 445 yards of offense.

Great efficiency in the red

zone. Luke Altmeier accounts for five touchdowns, four through the air, and one on the ground,

big rushing day for Luke Altmire. Four different players catch a touchdown pass, and the defense

bounces back through three quarters. Ruckers was averaging about three and a half yards per play,

had some drives late, including a touchdown drive in the fourth quarter, but a nice bounce

back against a really good passing offense. And Joey, Illinois is bowl eligible for the second

time in a row, first time since 2011. That has happened. But more some, most importantly, Joey,

before we get into the hits and misses, this team back and and kind of prove that we've played some good teams

really good teams so far this year and the schedule lightens up so ruckers not nearly as good

as the teams they have lost to this season but Illinois takes care of business and if they take care

of business in the final three games this could still still be a very, very good season for Illinois. So encouraging to see Illinois treat

a poor Big Ten team, like a poor Big Ten team. Yeah, you take advantage of the mistakes that Rutgers

gives you with some missed passes, with just not being very crisp. Like, that's what good teams do,

is they take advantage when the other team doesn't play as well. And if you're given a mistake, run with it, right? And I thought Illinois did that, but it was a big bounce back because they would have lost this game. Then all of a sudden it's like, what is going on here? This is really coming off the rails. And they didn't. And they looked at your end. It was the most complete game that we've seen oddly enough special teams was probably the one that that kept it from being

like a perfect three for three with just and we're saying that over a miss field goal right so i just

it was a big answer for this defense in particular i didn't i mean we knew the illinois

offense was going to move the ball well against this Rutgers defense.

We didn't know how this Illinois defense was going to stop a Rutgers offense.
