Adventure Travel: Alexandre on Discovering Georgia as a Hidden Gem Favorite During His 7+ Year Full-Time Global Journey, Proving Adventure Thrives in Lesser-Known Places Over Famous Destinations.
Originally published July 5, 2021
Oftentimes the best adventures are not in the most well-known places or in the most dramatic of sceneries. Hidden gems of adventure are all around us. In fact, as we say on this show, adventure is anywhere you are.
Alexandre had his sights set on Turkey, a country he had longed to visit. Little did he know, the adjacent and lesser-traveled country of Georgia would quickly become one of his favorite places in his more than seven-year full-time travel adventure.

| 0:00.0 | Hey folks, welcome to the Adventure Sports podcast. I'm your host, Mason Gravely. Today's |
| 0:11.6 | episode is a throwback episode, but before we get into that, I owe you all a book giveaway |
| 0:17.3 | for states of adventure from our last episode with Fitz Cahall. Fits is the host and |
| 0:26.0 | producer of the Dirtbag Diaries, literally the, you know, most iconic outdoor and adventure |
| 0:32.3 | podcast and the longest running. Fitz is one of my heroes. He made a film that changed my life about |
| 0:41.0 | riding a bike through Kyrgyzstan. And I love the stuff that he does. Him and his wife, |
| 0:48.2 | Becca, do amazing work. And he's a huge inspiration and a mentor of mine. But they have a book |
| 0:53.0 | out called States of Adventure, |
| 0:54.3 | which is about 30 of the adventure stories that they've kind of plucked from their archives and put them in book format. And we're doing a giveaway. I'll include something in the show notes, if not just go back an episode or two to where you see Fitz's name. And in those show notes is a link to the book. And it's just 30 stories of adventure from all over the world from all different people. And a lot of folks who've been on this show before are in that book, which is really cool to see. And we did a giveaway. And so a lot of y'all entered. And by the way, before we announce who the winner is, I just want to say we recently had some hurricanes. I took a break from |
| 1:28.5 | the podcast. I got sick and it's just been a lot of chaos and I really appreciate how many people |
| 1:36.4 | reached out and just were checking on us and were just seeing how we were doing because they noticed |
| 1:43.6 | the show hasn't posted recently. |
| 1:45.4 | And I just really appreciate that. |
| 1:47.1 | Everybody that message, thank you so much. |
| 1:49.2 | That was really kind. |
| 1:50.8 | And I honestly do forget that this podcast goes out to the world. |
| 1:55.3 | I'm sitting here in a dark room looking at a screen with some Google Docs open. |
| 2:00.6 | And I'm like, oh, yeah, when I hit |
| 2:02.5 | publish, it goes everywhere. And people can just find the show and listen to it. So I literally do |
| 2:08.6 | forget that until I start hearing from folks. So thank you so much. I really appreciate all of y'all. |
| 2:13.5 | But a lot of you entered this giveaway for Fitz's book, States of Adventure, and I'm going to |
| 2:19.0 | select a random winner right now. And I'm not going to say your last name. I'm just going to say |
