Summary

Highlights:

  • What else do you have? You can abandon the churches. In your cynicism and disbelief, you can say to yourself, narcissistically and solipsistically - the church does not express what I believe properly. Who cares what you believe? Why is this about you? Do you even want it to be about you?” - Jordan Peterson
  • “Quit fighting for social justice, quit saving the bloody planet, attend to some souls, that's what you're supposed to do. That’s your holy duty. Do it now!” - Jordan Peterson
  • “What’s the world that Jordan Peterson is calling churches to invite men back to? It’s a world that doesn’t badger you with guilt, precisely because it's a world that is infused with grace. There are no accusations, only transformation. The church isn’t here to accuse you of privilege, it’s here to invite you to an inheritance; a divine inheritance brought about not by the patriarchal murdering of one’s brother, but rather our own brother voluntarily laying down his life for us!”

Just days ago, Jordan Peterson released a video message to the Christian Church.

0:54.0

It was a stunning and timely message that's far more profound than anyone realizes.

We're going to take a bit of a deep dive into Peterson's message and see why this video is powerfully calling men to enthusiastically embrace the rise of a post-globalist, post-secular future.

Now in the West, because of the weight of historical guilt that is upon us, a variant of the sense of original sin in a very real sense, and because of a very real attempt by those possessed by what might be described as unhelpful ideas to weaponize that guilt,

1:35.0

our young people face a demoralization that is perhaps unparalleled.

1:41.0

This is particularly true of young men, although anything that devastates young men will eventually do the same to young women.

1:51.0

And that in this era of anti-datalism and equally reprehensible nihilism is precisely the point.

1:59.0

So first and foremost, Peterson sees this phenomenon known as liberal guilt, this obsession over things like white privilege and systemic racism and alike.

2:10.0

He sees this as a form, a modern form of original sin, which in the Christian tradition argues that we all participate in some way, shape, or form in Adam's guilt and the guilt of Adam's first sin, such as Adam's sin is now our sin.

2:26.0

We're implicated in that first act of disobedient wickedness for which there needs to be some kind of atonement.

2:34.0

Now I think Peterson's absolutely right here, the whole reason why we're supposedly implicated in the sins of our fathers as it were, such as the sin of racism, is because our modern woke leftists are actually drawing from a perverted secularized notion of original sin,

2:51.0

notion they learn during the civil rights era in the 1950s and 60s when social activism was an extension of the social justice movement, ironically from inside the church.

3:01.0

And wokeism is basically broken off from that relationship and created its own religion, its own political cult that's now imposing itself on the rest of us, particularly on young men.

3:13.0

Following all that, because that's not enough even when pursued assiduously for total demoralization, is the inculcation of an extremely damaging ideology which essentially consists of three accusations.

3:30.0

Number one, human culture, particularly in the West, is best construed as an oppressive patriarchy, motivated by the desire, willingness and ability to use power defined as the compulsion of others against their will to attain what are purely selfish and self-serving ends.

3:51.0

This is true at every level of analysis, marriage is akin to slavery, friendship to exploitation, political disagreement to war and business arrangements to deception and theft, accusation number two.

4:08.0

Human activity, particularly that undertaken in the West, is fundamentally a planet disoiling enterprise.
