A happy Independence Day since today is July 3rd it's the day that's

officially recognized and independence day falls on a weekend this year so this is our

happy independence day episode as always my name is Max McGuire and this is our Happy Independence Day episode and as always my name is Max McGuire and this is Joe Otto

And we're going to talk about Independence Day. We're going to talk a little bit towards the end about our organization and what we do

But we have to start today with the issue of the day, which is that yesterday, and Mr. producer, if you can throw up image number one, yesterday the NFL revealed that they're going to be playing what they're calling the Black National Anthem

before the Star Spangled Banner at at least the week won games of the NFL season.

So apparently the Black National Anthem,

if no one knows, it's a song called Lift Every Voice,

and we're gonna play a little bit of it in a bit.

It was written by a man and it was set to music by another man named Jay Rhodesaman Johnson,

who was a school teacher.

He taught chorus and he took a poem that his brother had written and he made it into a song so that the school children and his Jacksonville, Florida school could sing it.
