Crown colony of Hong Kong is getting itself established and organized.

Sir Henry Pottinger is appointed the first governor

and the legislative and advisory bodies

that survive to this very day, The legislative council and executive council,

Legko and Exco, are being set up, though not yet functional.

Between January 1841, with the Convention of Trend B and February 1842 when Sir Henry returned to Hong Kong to take

over formal leadership of the colony.

The man in charge had been the superintendent of trade,

Captain Charles Elliot, and more specifically Elliot's deputy Alexander Robert Johnston

immortalized in the Wan Chai District with Johnston Road.
