I'm Sean K. B. And I'm AP Andy.

And today, you know, we often talk about the cycle of struggles or the progression of radical

and direct struggles that periodically emerge to help us more fully imagine what it would really mean to defeat the state and capitalism and of course we're in the course of one such struggle right now which we can call the George Floyd uprising but we want to

look at that in relation to another momentous struggle that peaked in 2016, 2017, the Standing Rock blockade

against the Dakota Access Pipeline

and its precedents and what's happened since.

So joining us today is Nick Estes, a citizen of the Lower Burrell Sioux Tribe, an assistant

professor of American Studies at the University of New Mexico, the host of the

Red Nation Podcast, and the author of a great book that we just read.

Our history is the future Standing Rock versus the Dakota Access Pipeline

and the long tradition of indigenous resistance. Nick, thank you for

joining us. How are you this evening? How are things in Albuquerque? I'm great. It's hot

as hell in Albuquerque and I'm really impressed that you pronounced everything correctly in the

bio and most people don't do that so.
