Summary

This episode has been a long time coming, when I tell you I’ve been wanting to have Tash Oakley on for YEARS. She’s one of the OG influencers, but has used her platform to monetise her platform into a business that’s lasted decades, where many others have fallen by the wayside. As the co-founder of the internationally acclaimed brand Monday Swimwear, she has revolutionized the industry with her keen eye for design and deep knowledge of viral content.

RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. As usual, sponsorships do not change my opinions nor my honesty, but I will always disclaim to make sure motives are clear 😊

This episode has been a long time coming. When I tell you, I've been wanting to have Tash Oakley on for years.

She's definitely been one of the people I've looked to for inspiration from kind of way back in the

0:20.5

beginning. She's one of the

0:22.2

OG influencers, but the way she's used her platform and monetized it into a business that has now

0:29.0

lasted over a decade is really, really incredible. And no one can deny that that is incredibly

0:35.6

impressive through so many evolutions of the industry.

0:38.5

As the co-founder of the internationally acclaimed brand Monday Swimware, I think it's pretty much

0:43.2

fair to say that she has revolutionized the industry, both in the way that swimwear is marketed,

0:47.8

but also their kind of attention to detail, their knowledge of viral content, the way they've

0:53.0

been able to build this community

0:54.5

and be one of the first brands that really thought of brand as community. For example, as part of

1:00.6

this, back in 2012, Tash and her best friend Devon started a blog called a Pekina Day, which was

1:05.2

inspired by their love for swimwear. The blog exploded into a hub for lifestyle and wellness content and eventually then saw them found

1:13.4

Monday. Tash is someone I've always looked up to and especially considering she's been in the industry

1:18.6

since when I started, which I started in 2015. So the industry has changed so, so much since then.

1:25.3

And more recently, she wrote her book excessively obsessed,

1:28.8

which was designed to be a practical read about the reality of entrepreneurship. She very

1:33.0

much doesn't mince her words, and we have obviously got that in common. But I particularly

1:38.1

love and loved in this interview that everything that she said about the reality of entrepreneurship not just

1:45.0

in like how you progress and how you create your career and how you get to the next level and

1:49.5

deciding whether entrepreneurship is even for you but also the level of personal sacrifice

1:54.3

that you not only need to be happy to make but that you need to set out to make she talks about
