historian. And in fact, it is as a historian that I generally talk about labor unions even now

because they really have been on the decline for a long time.

But they've still done a lot, I think, to confuse people about the way the market works.

People think, well, here we have these labor unions.

And before we had them, workers were in bad shape.

And then later, after labor unions, they were in better shape.

So labor unions must have increased the,

improved the standard of living of the average worker. And this is not necessarily the case.

Even logically, that doesn't have to be the case. And I want to go through and review

some of the arguments. And I want to point out, by the way, that my father was a member of the Teamsters Union for about 15 years, so I have a natural inclination to be sympathetic to unions, but the facts just won't let me.
