Summary

Originally aired, February 18, 2019.

When Adrian’s wife thought it would be a good idea to learn how to Paraglide, she probably didn’t foresee that in a relatively short amount of time, her husband would be summiting and flying solo off volcanoes near their home in Mexico City.

Obviously, Adrian took to the sport quickly and it gave him a completely different view of his other favorite hobby, climbing. But with their recent family addition of a little girl and limited time off work, Adrian needed a way to summit mountains over 18,000 feet and return home in the same day. This led him to sleeping in a hypoxic chamber to decrease the amount of time needed to acclimate to high elevation.  Talk about dedication to adventure. What’s your excuse?

Today's episode is a throwback.

0:13.6

We're going back to one of my earlier episodes, so I've hopefully improved since then.

But this is going back talking to Adrian Garza, the dude that climbs up volcanoes.

0:24.5

He lives in Mexico City, climbs at the top of these like 18,000 foot volcanoes and just jumps off with a paraglide, of course.

0:33.2

You know, he's not to his death.

0:36.1

It's an amazing combination of skills and experiences and just

0:39.9

something that I imagine would just blow the minds of people three, four, five hundred thousand

0:46.0

years ago of like one day humans will fly and this is how they're going to do it. Like,

0:50.7

what a, what an amazing, like, transit, I don't even know the word just

0:56.0

magical, majestic, celestial, spiritual experience to say I'm going to climb this mountain

1:04.1

and then fly off of it like a bird. That's what Adrian's doing. I've never experienced this.

1:10.1

I have no idea what it feels like or, you know, the sensation, but it's just one of the coolest

1:16.1

things I've ever heard of.

1:17.6

It was such a great conversation.

1:19.2

I actually love to have Adrian back on the show to hear about what he's done since.

1:24.4

But this was just a really fun conversation that I remember being kind of one of

1:29.1

those eye-opening experiences. And again, you know, folks, if you listen to this show, you know that,

1:34.9

you know, you can't pursue everything. You know, we hear so many types of sports, so many

1:40.5

different types of adventures that you can do. Obviously, you can't do all these. And I'm

1:46.6

frankly, very surprised when I think someone who is very adventurous, I'm like, oh yeah, they've
