First of all, I want to thank all the great head coaches that recruited me.

This process was not easy at all. It was really hard. You know, it was a last-minute decision. All the stress went on me, but I knew God had me and he got me to the right thing at the end of the day. And no doors are going to close. It's just the beginning of a new chapter, man. And I want to thank everybody. everybody but without further to do I'll be taking

Have you I'm a huge Yeah That was an emotional Jacob Iberhard making his college decision and announcing he will be going to play at the same university that his father played at in the early, or late 90s and early 2000s. Welcome in to the Alina Inquirer podcast.

It is Jeremy Werner back from St. Louis where I got to cover that great commitment announcement.

No hat tricks, none of that. A lot of emotion, though, as Jacob Eberhardt, whose late father,

Jason died a couple years ago, but he is following in his father's

footsteps to play at the University of Illinois. And what a big recruiting win for Brett Beoma.

Welcome in. Let's talk about it. Just me solo today as we record this on an early Sunday morning

after traveling back from St. Louis. But this is a big get for Illinois and just kind of a reminder

that this is a very, very good class. So we'll break it down. We'll break down what this

means for the class, how he fits, what makes him a very, very special prospect. I'm going to

write a feature story on this. I have a story up about what it means. I have a story up talking with Jeremy Macklin, who's his high school coach. You remember that name. I think we had a punt return touchdown against Illinois, one of those Illinois Missouri games where Missouri won't all of them. He was a two-time All-American NFL Pro Bowler and pretty good resource for Jacob Iberhard throughout this process.

But this was an emotional day.

Obviously, I caught up with, you know, his family, Antonio Phillips is his older brother.

His father also was Jason Eberhardt.

And he played at Ball State.

His first college game was at the University of Illinois going up against his dad's school.

And he was a very good college player.

Marcus Golden is in his corner because he's a cousin of the Iberhard family.

Terry Hawthorne is actually related to the Iberhart family.

So there was a lot of support around him and a community that helped him get through
