0:29.0 | Alright folks welcome to another episode. I guess we're going to call this spun up. That's what people keep telling me that they like as a name for this and really what we're planning on doing is continuing to talk about leadership tactics, firearms, hunting, whatever, you know, whatever fits your fancy. We've gotten a lot of good feedback and because of some of that feedback, I this particular leadership episode that we're going to do here. I'm going to call this leadership |
0:59.0 | a lot of the right people and one of the fellas that I have a lot of respect for. Colonel Lynn Ashley called me after we put out the other leadership podcast that that went out a few weeks ago. |
1:14.0 | And we just had a very frank conversation about leadership and what it means to him and what he's seen since he's gotten out of the military. He retired as a as a Colonel went into business. |
1:28.0 | And he's had some interesting interactions while doing that. So today, you know, bear with me in the video. I guess you'll see I've got a lot of notes here that I'm going to refer to. |
1:41.0 | And as I go through this, hopefully there'll be more discussion that will inspire where you folks can email us and let us know what some of your questions are and what we can talk about. We've been getting some really cool emails. |
1:53.0 | And I'm excited about this one because I talked to my buddy Lynn, but I'm excited about some of the others because we have some of our listeners and viewers out there that are getting in touch with the staff, ask those questions. |
2:06.0 | Some of you are asking questions that I probably am not going to answer, but some of you definitely are asking good leadership questions, good firearms or tactics questions, hunting questions, whatever it might be. |
2:17.0 | So without further ado, let's talk about let's talk about what Lynn Ashley and I talked about and remember our backgrounds are military. |
2:26.0 | So Lynn spent, I guess he spent about 30 years in the army was a special forces officer and a very respected man. |
2:35.0 | Not just by me, but by other special operations dudes out there. So that says a lot about somebody if they've been able to build that credibility and to step up to that level there. |
2:46.0 | I hope he doesn't listen to this because I don't, I mean, I want him to, I don't want him to hear that. But one of the things he said right out of the gate, he told me he said, you know, if you take care of the right people, they're going to accomplish the mission. |
2:59.0 | Man, I guess I could stop there. Take care of the right people. They're going to make it happen. But who are those right people? And what I would say is, first of all, you have to have the right people and then those people have to make the right decisions. |
3:14.0 | And step up and make those, you know, make those calls for you. So sound simple, right? Sounds pretty simple. Have the right people and listen to the right people. |
3:26.0 | One of the things we also talked about that, that I found interesting to hear coming from him. He said that many of the senior leaders in business and corporations, they don't even know how to classify leaders. |
3:37.0 | Because maybe they haven't been exposed to what, what a real leader is. Well, what, what the heck does that mean? How do you, how do you classify? |
3:46.0 | How, how do you classify these leaders? Well, in the military, it's pretty simple. They're good or they're bad. And we had a lot of leaders to look at. |
3:56.0 | In the military, every two years, leadership positions rotate. So you get the new person in there. And then you get a chance to see if they're a good leader, a great leader, a bad leader, a self-serving malicious. |
4:09.0 | There's a lot of different types of leaders that get, you know, that that we got exposure to. |
4:18.0 | What I would say is, I probably learned just about as much from the bad leaders as I did from the good leaders. So from the. |
4:27.0 | From the good leaders, I was exposed to what I want to emulate. Wow, this guy or this guy was a great or a good leader. I want to emulate what they're doing. |
4:38.0 | And I also was able to look at the bad leaders, poor leaders, malicious leaders, bad leaders, whatever category you want to call them. To me, a bad leader and malicious leader, two different leaders, a bad leader is something that's just a poor leader. |
