I'm James Hibbard, E.W. Editor at Large. And with me is Darren Franich. So much to talk about. And we're going to start with basically

our overall thoughts. My take on this. And by the way, if you've, you know, we got to see this at

the premiere screening in Los Angeles last week. And the next time Game of Thrones does one of those

things where they have like a limited IMAX release of some kind like they've done the past if you have an

opportunity to see the show that way i hugely recommend it uh you know there's always like

details in the costumes and the backgrounds and in the sound design that you just don't pick up

on television you know there's no other show that fills the big screen better than this one. So, uh, big picture, you know, I thought the premiere set the stakes for season seven perfectly. It had that great blend of epic presentation and intimate character moments that Thrones does better than anything else. And even a distracting, Ed Shearren couldn't spoil it for me.

What was your take, Darren?

Yeah, the Ed Shearin cameo was interesting.

I barely know who he was, and even so, I was very distracted by him.

But generally speaking, you know, James, I feel as if the premieres of Game of Thrones

are always about, like, you know, a certain

amount of table setting. And this episode literally gave us, like, two different monarchs with

two different huge maps of the world that they want to conquer. And it really felt to me,

like, you know, there was a lot of setup here, perhaps even like more so than I might want,
