Turns out, he got a diagnosis of macular degeneration, and he decided he was going to walk home and see America before he went blind.

I mean, I thought I was, you know, doing something.

Here's a guy who's walking.

And mind you, he's gone from Seattle to Kansas on foot.

And so I was just asking him about, like, how he was doing it and what kind of gear he had.

He said, gear.

I said, yeah, like, what kind of shoes you've been wearing, right?

He said, oh, he said, just pointed down to the ground.

He said, I just, I picked these up for $15 at the, at the Walmart.

They're working just fine for me.

Vista Cruiser wagon from Ohio to California every other summer. She rediscovered America in the

wake of the personal crisis when she learned how to ride a motorcycle and took her first solo

cross-country ride. Tamila learned to ride when she was 48 and three months after getting her

motorcycle endorsement took off on an 18-state 7,500-mile solo trip from North Carolina to Oregon and back.

Since then, she's traveled 47 states and five Canadian provinces on her motorcycle, mostly solo.
