Summary

Dorothy Parker was a prolific Jazz Age writer who rose to prominence during her days as a member of the Algonquin Round Table - a group of writers, critics and actors who liked to spend lunch cracking wise and practically joking. A celebrated poet, Parker also churned out dozens of short stories, earning herself an O. Henry Short Story Prize for "Big Blonde" which we discuss on today's show. We also cover her biting portrait of newlyweds "Here We Are," the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter, and how babies are not to be trusted with anything.

1:25.5

It was so long ago that I think maybe we don't remember it as much. I guess. But I think we can

1:32.6

agree that it's like a force for good in the world, right? Yeah, I think so.

1:36.8

Did you know that they were making new episodes of it up until 2006?

1:41.3

I really? Yeah. Like I wanted to say, like yeah, I knew about that. But then I thought about the date.

1:48.7

1:55.5

The whole time of our Burton. Wow. Yeah. That's some dedication right there.

2:00.8

It's just great. Yeah. And then after it went off, went off air, they developed an app that

2:09.9

did some stuff. My friend, Jackie, actually interviewed Love Art Burton for an article that went up

2:18.9

at ours Technica about it, which is cool. And then he came back a couple weeks ago with this

2:24.3

Kickstarter. And he says, you know, we want to make a, we want to make like a web and like

2:30.0

smartphone portal now because we, you know, in the 80s, we came to TV because that's where kids were
