Welcome to crude conversations.

Before I talk about this week's guest, I wanted to give everyone a heads up.

I recently started a new podcast called Lost Anchorage, where I investigate the mechanisms

and causation of crime in Anchorage, Alaska. And in order to keep that going, and in

in order to keep that going, I'll need to make more time to do all the things that make up a podcast. All that to say, for now, there will be a new crude conversations

episode every other week and same with

lost Anchorage. I'll still be releasing one podcast a week but one week will be

an episode of crude conversations and the following week will be lost anchorage.

All right, let's get into my conversation with this week's guest, Jason Borgstead.

I've known Jason for as long as I can remember.

He was there during the Borderline

Alaska snow and skate years. If you're not familiar with Borderline, it was a

snowboard and skateboard shop in the late 80s, 90s, and 2000s that really

nurtured and pushed that culture in Alaska. My dad,

Scott Liska, and his brother, my uncle Jay Liska, started it. So Jason was a big part of that scene.

He went on to become a professional snowboarder. He filmed

for heavy hitter snowboard videos like Mack Dogg and even won the X Games.
