Hey there. I am Gary Parrish. Welcome back to the I-On College basketball podcast here on CBS Sports Network, where we sometimes

0:20.9

discuss camel fighting, dodo birds, and leaky black. You see them right there. Matt

0:25.0

Norlander is here with me, and we've got a fun show playing for you. We're going to talk

0:28.7

brackatology starting in the B block, but the A block, I think it's got to be what happened

0:33.9

Monday night down in Lubbock, Texas. Final score, Kansas 64, Texas Tech 61.

0:40.6

Darren Peterson, the presumed number one pick of the 2006 NBA draft. He flipped the game in the

0:46.1

final 80 seconds. He made one tough three-pointer from the right corner to tie it, then made another

0:52.0

one from the top to give Kansas a lead. It would never relinquish

0:55.9

Norlander. Personal 6-0 run from Darren Peterson to close that game. He flipped a loss into a win.

It felt like a real college basketball moment. Can you confirm it for me? Was that a big moment in the

1:08.1

sport? It was, and the irony, a couple pieces of irony here. One, season high, 35 minutes on the

1:14.1

floor. Look what happens when Darren Peterson can play the majority of a game. Amazing things.

1:19.1

Really cool, right? Wonderful to see it. We begged for it on the Sunday eye on college basketball

1:23.5

pod. And we got it one night later. That was awesome to see. But also, Darren also Darren Peterson dare I say for the first 38 and a half minutes of this game

1:32.3

was a jag just another guy wasn't shooting well from the floor his teammates were

1:38.4

being more impactful Texas Tech was pacing toward the win Texas Tech by the way

1:41.9

which found itself short-handed with its best

1:44.9

shooter not being able to play Christian Anderson battling an illness. We saw him on the sideline

1:49.6

there coming out of halftime, looking like he might try and give it a go, but for whatever reason,

1:54.6

he couldn't give it a go. So if I had told you before this game, there's going to be an excellent

1:59.1

shooter, an All-American candidate who can't get on the floor. We would have thought it was Darren Peterson. Thankfully, it was not. Hopefully Anderson will be back for the next game, but not having him on the floor, by the way, that did mean something for Texas Tech. I thought if he had played the game, Texas Tech would have won. He didn't play the game. Texas Tech didn't win. Darren Peterson hit a couple of awesome threes, the first of which was more difficult than the second that gave Kansas the lead.

2:20.3

But that first one from the, from the bottom right wing, contested, off balanced, a really good flare screen set for him.
