An entitled Karen refuses to wait to be seen at a restaurant as she tries to claim a table that

isn't being used and freaks out when other people get served before her. My manager eventually got

involved. So I worked as a host for a restaurant last summer. It was during COVID and while we had

a lot of tables open, we didn't have enough waiters to fit all of the people at those tables,

so we didn't seat people at those empty once. It was a little past lunchtime and the wait was

about 30 minutes, which wasn't that long compared to other days. During our typical rush time,

it would sometimes be a wait of one to two hours. An entitled Karen and her son, who's about 10

years old, waddle through the door. She asked me what the wait time is and I tell her,

the Karen looks at me shocked as if I said something that had completely blown her mind. She looks at

me straight in the face and says, it's a 30 minute wait. At this point, I know I'm dealing with a

Karen as well as a Karen junior. Also, if 30 minutes is too long for some people, that's fine.

Just leave. I can't do anything about it. The Karen then says,

there are so many empty tables. Why can't you see us? There's an empty one right there. She says

that as she points to the closest empty table, I go on to explain that the table isn't assigned

to a waiter so they wouldn't be served at that table. I also explain that there's about a 30 minute

wait ahead of them. The Karen then barks back and says, oh my god, I can't believe this. Do

you know how hot it is outside? We can't wait out there. Are you kidding me? Why don't you guys

have an AC outside? You expect us to just wait out there? Thank god for masks because that almost

may be lose my mind. Also, there were other people waiting outside just fine, but she decided to

ignore that slight fact. I go on to say that I'm sorry, especially for not having outdoor air

conditioning. I then ask her if she wants to speak to the manager and lo and behold, she says yes.

So I get the manager to come and speak with her and I tell the Karen that she'll be out in a few
