Not too long ago, Donald Trump signed an executive order invoking the Alien Enemies Act,

giving him wartime powers to round up Venezuelan gang members and ship them to El Salvador's prison,

all based on the premise that a state of war exists between the United States and Venezuela.

The Alien Enemies Act grants the president,

emergency powers supposedly because we are in a state of war.

But war is declared by Congress here in the United States,

and if it's not declared by Congress, it must be authorized by Congress.

A president doesn't get to decide unilaterally that the United States is in a state of war

with Venezuela.

The Washington Post now reporting that the 18 spy agencies that comprise our National Intelligence Council issued a secret directive in early April informing our president that we hate to break it to you, Mr. President.

The United States has not been invaded by

claiming that is the case. So, Trump, just like George W. Bush, when he wanted to invade Iraq, well, he wants his war.

But all our nation's intelligence agencies are telling him, we weren't attacked by the country you want to invade.
