Summary

Never underestimate the power of menopausal women. Their years of experience and deep well of physical and mental strength uniquely positions them to move mountains--or at least a fully loaded dragon boat weighing more than a ton. This week’s guests Chris Head, a newbie dragon boat racer with the Dragon Divas, a team of Breast Cancer survivors and Connie Flesuras, longtime coach at Dragon Boat Training, Inc. share their experiences with this unique sport and how the dragon boat community has changed their lives. Connie Flesuras has a dragon boat training business in Portland, Oregon and has coached the USA National team and helped to create the first breast cancer survivor dragon boat team in the United States. She also started a team called Power Surge for 40+ women—because they aren’t hot flashes, they’re power surges. You can learn more about her and the sport at https://www.dragonboattraining.com/about_us. If you want to see her women’s dragon boat racing community in action, check out the short film Paddles on The Water from this year’s virtual Portland Film Festival. Chris Head is a personal trainer from St Paul Minnesota who got into dragon boat racing after six months of chemo and radiation following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2019. You can learn more about the team, the Dragon Divas at https://www.dragondivasmn.org/. **Support the Podcast** InsideTracker: 25% off at insidetracker.com/feistymenopause Nuun Hydration: 30% off at nuunlife.com with the code HITPLAY Previnex: 15% off your first order with code HITPLAY at https://www.previnex.com/
