today we're talking about one of the biggest business scandals and frauds in US history and Ron.

I've been meaning to tackle this whole ordeal for some time now, but it's an extremely long and complicated situation, so I'll warn you ahead of time. I may not be able to go into great depth in every single aspect of this case. I'm going to do my best, but this whole situation is probably

one of the messiest I've ever had to break down. There's even like a two hour long documentary

about Enron that I watched just to write this, and even that doesn't necessarily mention everything.

But without further delay, let's get right into this.

What the hell was Enron and what happened? happened.

we need to talk about their origins.

Enron began as Northern Natural Gas Company, organized in Omaha, Nebraska in 1930 by three other companies.

North American Light and Power Company and United Light and Railways company each had a 35%

stake in the new enterprise, while Lone Star Gas Corporation owned the remaining 30%.

The low cost of using natural gas as a heating fuel earned them a lot of money in the Great Depression,

when times were tight, to put it mildly. Northern continued to grow throughout the decades.

It acquired the gas gathering and transmission lines of Argus Natural Gas Company in the 40s as well as many, many others.

Its name became Inter North in 1980.

According to one source, although still officially named Inter North, the Merged Company initially known as HNG Inter North

with dual headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska and Houston, Texas.

In 1986, the company's name was changed to Enron Corp and headquarters were consolidated in Houston.
