Well, recently I made a parenting mistake. I've got a buddy who works at a church out of town,

and he asked me to come speak an event at his church on October 31st, random Tuesday night.

And I look at my schedule, look at the church schedule, and I'm like, I've got nothing going on that Tuesday.

I would love to speak at your event. And then we get closer to October 31st. My wife's looking at the calendar,

and she realizes October 31st isn't just like a random Tuesday. It's Halloween. Typically, it doesn't

matter. But this year is the first year where our daughter is really old enough where she

would have enjoyed Halloween. So Adelaie's going, Nate, what are we going to do? Who's going to take J.C. out trick-or-treating? And we've got a newborn. Who's going to be caring for the newborn? Then who's going to be handing out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters? And I just said, babe, that sounds like a great job for you. Like, you got it.

No, I didn't say that. I was like, no, I'm so sorry. I don't know. What should we do? And eventually, we decided that I know this is lame, but we were just going to put a bowl out in front of our door. Like, I know it's not the most fun thing in the world. But that's what we had to do, where my wife was putting the girls down to sleep and then trying to fill up the bowl at the same time,

like she had a lot going on.

So we put a bowl of candy right outside our door, and then we put a sign right above that bowl of candy. Anyone have any

idea what that sign said? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Please take one. We realized that night the least effective sign in the history of the world is on Halloween.

Because at one point, my wife went out there to refill up the bowl in between putting the girls down to sleep.

And she opens the door not only to see that the bowl wasn't just empty, but the bowl was gone. I know. And it wasn't like a plastic bowl. This was our fruit bowl that someone gave to us for our wedding. It's like, when she told me, I know, when she told me, I'm driving back, and I'm like, this middle school kid came and didn't just

take extra candy, he took the whole stinking bowl.

I mean, this is like his Super Bowl.

He's walking around going, I got all the candy I could ever possibly need.

And it was just frustrating, but, you know, we learned a lesson that night.

We learned that kids can't really control themselves because kids,

children are always going to take more than what they need. But you know, I'm excited for this

Thursday because this Thursday, it's not Halloween, it's a much better holiday. We got Thanksgiving

coming up and I'm going to be with my in-laws. My in-laws are
