Hello everyone and this is a joint production by the Free Ravens and David Crowther Me of the history of England.

As listeners to my podcast may well known, I am much given to wallowing in my joy of English culture and history

and have loved taking part in a fantastic project that took place this year around St. George's Day.

It is called A Very English Chat.

And what it does is aim to build a sense of positive and inclusive patricism

by us all wallowing together in objects that typify aspects of any culture we particularly love and enjoy.

So, in this episode, we, myself, Alan and Martin

are going to choose some such subjects, five each, and we'll go in turn. We'll start with

Eleanor, then Martin and then myself, and together we'll get to a total of 15, And then at the end we'll have a vote.

Were you aware of this project before we start to document it?

I had read something about Billy Bragg doing it.

I think it was an interview with Billy Bragg and The Guardian.

So I'd sort of encountered it, but I hadn't done much digging into it prior to this chat.

I had absolutely no idea it was happening.

But that's not necessarily unusual for me.

Old trends in society could go and they'll have absolutely no clue.
