When we look at the big picture, it's clear that producing and using more renewable energy is a fundamental target for tackling climate change.

So to set the scene, I asked HPE chief technologist Ian Henderson to help us understand where we are

with energy today.

I think the UK has actually made pretty good progress. We've got a long way to go.

But, you know, I think we've done a lot in reducing the level of fossil fuels,

but we're still having to make a significant investment in nuclear, you know, quite controversially.

And there are big changes of foot, you know, with stopping new house builds having gas boilers

and moving to new technology like air source or ground source heat pumps. Not so easy to retrofit that,
