I'm Eric Townsend and I'm excited to tell you about a new project I've been working

on which I'm really passionate about and which I'll be sharing with you in a special series

of five podcasts airing Sunday mornings on the Macrovoices feed beginning with this one.

One of the biggest trends in society today is widespread concern about climate change

and great frustration with our ongoing addiction to fossil fuels, particularly among younger

generations.

These people have their hearts in exactly the right place.

We only have one planet and we need to take better care of it.

And even if you're not concerned about climate change, the fact remains that fossil fuels

are a finite resource that we have no credible plan to replace before they're eventually

depleted.

But in my opinion, climate fanaticism has led to entire generations of well-meaning

people being misled to believe things that simply are not true.

The reason that most young people think that fossil fuels should be outlawed tomorrow morning

and replaced by wind and solar is that politicians and well-meaning but badly misinformed activists

have told them that these things are possible, which is nonsense.

We urgently need to stop wasting time on fairy tales about wind and solar solving all

our problems and get serious about finding realistic solutions to the very real long-term

problems we face as finite natural resources are slowly but surely being depleted.
