Summary

In this episode, we continue our Ending Well series by diving into what it really means to go a different way—to stop running on self-reliance, striving, and noise, and instead return to the quiet confidence of walking with God.

This has been one of the hardest years of my life, but also one of the most redemptive. Through heartbreak, pruning, and wilderness seasons, God has been dismantling old patterns and showing me that His way—the quiet, trusting, restful way—isn't weakness. It's strength.

God led me to Isaiah 30:15:

"In returning and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength."

It's a verse that has completely reframed my year and the way I view obedience. In this conversation, we unpack what those four words—returning, rest, quiet, and trust—look like in real life. From letting go of the need to hustle, to learning to rest when it feels unsafe, to finding courage in stillness, this is a roadmap for ending the year not just reflective—but renewed.

If you've been wandering, striving, fighting, or doubting, this episode will remind you that God's invitation is simple:
Come home.
Rest.
Be still.
Trust Me.

Because the way you've always done things isn't the way God is asking you to end this year. He's calling you to go a different way.

All right. Welcome back or welcome for the first time if you just got here. We are ending the year

0:12.5

well together essentially by looking at what God has taught me through one of the harder years

0:20.1

of my life and the things that he has

0:23.0

revealed, that he has broken, that he has dismantled, that he has brought in. And this is how I decided

0:29.8

I wanted to end the year by reclaiming and redeeming a lot of it, because as hard as things may have

0:36.2

been in this season, I think this is one of

0:39.9

the first times that I have walked through the wilderness or through the valley and not been a brat

0:45.5

about it and had asked for eyes to see what God was doing. And so it's been this really cool

0:53.8

kind of winding road that we have walked together.

0:57.0

Last week, we talked about hearing the voice of the Lord.

1:00.4

And that was really foundational for me going into this and going into the end of the year.

1:06.0

I talked about how for a long time I kind of hedged away from really saying, like, I heard God say,

1:11.9

and this is what the Lord has instructed. And this year was the year that that kind of had to go.

1:18.0

Like, there was no, there just wasn't an option anymore. And I was able to grow in boldness

1:22.8

in not only hearing him, but also expressing that. And I wanted to establish that because the rest of the series is probably going to be me talking

1:32.4

about hearing God and learning things from him.

1:35.3

And so just wanted us to be clear on our terms on that.

1:40.0

I thought I'd give you an overview really quick.

1:42.7

So last week was foundational.

1:44.8

This week is kind of a little bit of more a summation because God gave me a verse and really

1:54.3

brought it to life that's really summed up what this year has been.

1:58.1

And then we're going to kind of get into the nitty gritty of releasing the need to be useful.
