I'm really fond of this emerging democratic meme referring to the Electoral College as

a loophole, the Electoral College loophole.

And give us a quick snapshot of how that Electoral College loophole has put the last two Republicans

in the White House and how it could, at least in the Republican fever dreams, I wrote

a piece back in March about how I was hearing from Republicans I know in Washington, D.C.,

who were saying, we're going to use the 12th Amendment to put Trump back into the White

House no matter what happens.

It was, it created a bit of a splash, but I'm curious your take on how this plays out

and what might happen.

Well, you know, two of our last five presidents became president after losing the popular

vote towards W. Bush in 2000.

After the sequence of events culminating in the Supreme Court's five-to-four decision in

Bush v. Gore, and then Donald Trump, again in 2016, where he lost by more than three

million votes to Hillary Clinton, and yet was able to leak out an Electoral College victory.
