Welcome to the Euro Intelligence Podcast. I'm Wolfgang Munchau, and with me are Zazana Muncheng and Jack Smith.

Today we would like to talk about Brexit and the Conservative Party and about the Franco-German

0:14.6

relationship and what's left of it. Now, as we're recording this podcast on Friday morning, you know, List Trust has resigned,

0:22.6

but no new conservative leader has been elected. We assume that is still the case when you

0:26.7

listen to this, but events in British politics are moving past. Jack, can you tell us where we are

0:32.2

on this? In terms of where things go from here, she and the kind of conservative party at large,

1:22.7

100, he will be the next prime minister. Or it is, it works, and Rishi gets crowned on Monday, and then

1:30.3

all hell will break loose because people will suddenly realize that the system was rigged

1:34.8

to disenfranchise the conservative voters. This is a really bad decision to. Just like it was a bad

1:40.5

decision for Belosconi and Rensie and various other Italian politicians trying to rig the Italian voting system because it actually worked against them. These attempts are usually

1:48.8

futile. Yeah, I think there are a couple of things I want to say about this. First thing is that there

1:52.4

is an important substantive difference between what happens with the electoral laws in Italy and this,
